At heart I am a writer. Writing fuels all aspects of my life, including my business. The first thing I do every morning is three pages of writing. This sets up my day and allows ideas to turn up on the page related to my next blog, website page or how to resolve some aspect of my client work. This daily practice over more than 20 years helps me to write quickly and fluently.
I also love to edit. I'm one of those fusspots who cringes at the sight of stray apostrophes. I take great pleasure in uncovering the narrative within a complicated report, and making that clear for the reader.
I'm also deeply interested in the environment and the natural world, which is why I completed a double major in English and Biology, followed by a BA (Hons) in English Literature.
I then trained as a journalist and worked at the Hamilton Press prior to working at a unitary council as a planning adviser and senior policy planner. In these roles I developed resource management plan changes, a climate change action plan and bylaws.
In addition to NZ Writing Services, I provide a specialist writing service for local government at www.writingforcouncils.co.nz.
My home is in Nelson with Dean and our mini-schnauzer, Max. Dean is an artist, and you can see his work at www.deanbradley.co.nz. Dean and I have also co-authored two novels.
